Therapeutic Reflexologist · Professional Birth Doula

Case Study: Therapeutic Reflexologist · Professional Birth Doula

About Marthie Beumer

Marthie has been working as Therapeutic Reflexologist since 2000.  Her services were advertised via a website of Midwives, and that brought enough customers for a while. After being a Professional Birth Doula for two years, she needed a more effective website platform to share information with a wider range of clients, specifically for Doula services.

Review and Plan

Marthie attending the Digital Marketing for Small Business owners course in South Africa.  Since then she has been planning and collecting information for her website.

She had business cards, a Twitter account (with a bit of activity) and a personal Facebook account.  We discussed the components of the website, and how information can be re-used for Social Media.  She now has a Facebook page that she use to schedule and advertise events.

Implement

One of the most important aspects of the website was the look and feel.  Marthie wanted client to feel welcome, relaxed and comfortable that she has their best interest in mind.

The ultimate design is simple, but with enough elements that reinforce the brand and high quality content and articles.

Outdoor Shop

Case Study: E-Commerce website

About May of London

May of London is an Outdoor equipment shop that sell a wide range of products and services.  The previous website hosted more than 500 products for sale, but was not accessible via mobile platforms.  This lead to a reduction of sales and the need for a new and updated website.

Review and Plan

The owner of May of London originally contacted EdITCon to discuss SEO services.  During the review of the old website, it was found that not only is the website not mobile responsive, but that there was almost no SEO and general optimisation done.

It was not an easy task to change the old platform and the decision was made to implement a new design.  The request was for the logo to stay the same, since it is well known.

The products needed to be transferred from the old to the new website.

Implement

The website discussions happened in the May of London shop, which made it really easy to understand and visualize the needs of the client.
The new website was created and tested before the products were transferred.

Additional Services

Bespoke training was offered to the person tasked with maintenance of the products on the website.  Since there is ongoing maintenance and changes to the website functionality, the service is often conducted via recorded videos.

New functionality is added as the website matures, and there is an ongoing service for maintenance and enhancements.

Review and Plan

The owners of MMG Productions knew exactly how they wanted their website to look.  So the planning was easy and in the review it was found that they already have a unique and very efficient Social Media Strategy.

The website is a blank canvas to showcase the photos and videos.  The images is their main selling point and it was decided to keep it simple, with a colour palette of white and grey, as per their logo.

Implement

With this project, the biggest challenge was the implementation.

The SEO of the website is influenced by the speed at which the page load, so a lot of time was spent on detail optimisation to ensure a load speed of less than 3 seconds.

Website visits are monitored to review the effectiveness of Digital PR and Social Media engagement.

Additional Services

Instructional videos were created to allow the owners to upload their own images.

The website is constantly monitored for performance and optimised where possible.

Review and Plan

Essex Spit Roast is a former client that attended our Social Media Marketing training. The client’s website was unfortunately damaged by hackers, and they needed a solution that would be quick to implement, yet show the spirit and fun of the company.

The initial planning session was done in person, with prototypes and discussions of ideas.  The decision  was made to change from the black background to a more fun colour, and the decision was made to use pink and green as per the colour palette.

The logo was adjusted to be a better fit with the new colours of the website.  As the company also expands to include a Chilli Van and a Traditional Hamburger Van, the website would be expanded too.

Implement

Use a variety of images, combined with a logo and create a colourful, fun website.

Make sure that the variety of services is displayed in the images and content.

Keep in mind that the design should be flexible, and able to expand to showcase new services.

Additional Services

Ongoing website maintenance, SEO and enhancements.

Ongoing support with the development of Social Media Strategy and Automation.
